They provide the nurse with measurable means of keeping inventory of a patient’s physical progression from shift to shift. Assessment tools like the Braden scale which assess the patient’s skin quality; along with the falls risk scale that assess how high the patient’s chances are for falling; are two common assessment tools used worldwide. Along with these physical assessment tools are an array of non-physical assessment tools used to evaluate anything from the patient’s coping skills to evaluating their stress level. Three popular ones are the†¦show more content†¦Patients with chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, or multiple surgeries may experience higher levels of stress; especially if they are parents or have a spouse that they normally take care of. My patients normally exhibit some level of stress that is hard to determine sometimes with just simple conversation. These assessment tools would make it much easier to gauge the mental state our patients are in when referencing stress level. It would give specific questions to ask about the patient’s current stress level and could be ice breakers into diving deeper into what’s going on with the patient and can be used as building blocks to help with the patient’s issues once and for all; or at least better equip them with coping skills. Using these assessment tools and other like them would equip the nursing staff with the tool needed to provider more holistic care to the patient which is synonymous with Watson’s Theory of caring. In my vulnerable population paper I referenced the HIV population and the struggles they go through. It is my experience that has shown me that al lot of times it is difficult to get the patient to open up and convers about what they are feeling about this horrible diagnosis. He is given the advice by Hrothgar a king and a father figure to Beowulf, to become a respected long living king. Beowulf follows Hrothgars advice to become a well respected king and warrior with fame after death. In Beowulf’s younger years he obtains a great confidence but never elevates to becoming arrogant and self centered. All warriors need to have a confidence to be successful, because if they are not the will be lead to a most unglorified demise. Beowulf has a great respect for his own skills, and before he goes to fight his first significant evil he does not ware armor because he feels it would be unfair advantage. â€Å"Grendel is no braver, no stronger/Than I am! It seemed reasonable that German speaking people should be united and Germany regain the land that they lost. It led to the German people getting angry and voting for the extremist party's and Hitler coming to power. If the Treaty hadn't been made then Britain and France would not have had anything to appease Germany over because there wouldn't have been a need for them to regain the land they lost as it would have still been theirs. The League of Nations had failed by 1938 when Hitler went into Austria. The reaction of the more powerful countries to events in Ethiopia and Manchuria had shown that countries such as Britain and France acted in their own self-interest when dealing with invasions by powerful countries when they attacked smaller countries. Thus the idea of collective security was seen as unworkable as countries were willing to use their own armies to protect smaller countries. Britain and France did not want to be involved in war. This meant that the failure of the League of Nations was and important reason for the success of Hitler's foreign policy because Hitler knew hat he could get away with anything without the league on his back. He already knew that the league had let Japan get away with invading Manchuria so Hitler believed that he could get away with what ever he wanted to do so he played with this and invaded countries and broke the Treaty of Versailles. The failure of the league meant that Hitler could invade all of ‘his' countries and begin a war. Hitler knew that Britain and France feared Communist Russia more than they feared Nazi Germany. This is shown by the friendly relationships between Britain and France and Germany during the first half of the 1930's e.g. 1936 Olympics held in Britain. Therefore Britain and France were happy to see a strong Germany as a buffer against the USSR. This was an important reason for the success of Hitler's foreign policy because France and Britain were scared of Russia as they were communists and they didn't want them to invade them because Russia was too big and strong to defeat. Germany was strong and not communists and was in-between France, Britain and Russia and France and Britain didn't want to upset Germany. Appeasement showed Hitler that Britain and France were willing to allow him to do anything that he wanted to do. Hitler tried something out to see what would happen so he occupied the Rhineland and rearmed it. He sent troops into the Rhineland but Britain and France didn't do anything because they thought this was Germany's anyway so why not let them have it back. When Britain and France let him off of that, he thought why not try something else so he the invaded Austria. Then once again Britain and France appeased Germany. When Hitler saw that he was getting away with anything that he wanted to he took it another step forward until it led to war. For this reason appeasement was a the most important reason for the success of Hitler's foreign policy because it allowed Hitler to do what he wanted and get away with anything. If Britain and France would have not appeased Hitler then he probably wouldn't have done the things he did that made his foreign policy a success. If Britain and France would have done something then Hitler wouldn't have gone as far as he did. Hitler took it as far as he could, got back all of the land that Germany had lost and it all eventually led to war. Therefore Hitler knew that Britain and France were unlikely to act against him when he went into Austria, Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia. He was rearming all the time that appeasement was occurring and so becoming stronger and more willing to risk war over Poland. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had a knack for discovery as long as it was somehow related to video games or technology. If I didn’t know something, I needed to find out and if I didn’t, it would kill me. If I stopped working on something during the day, I would think about troubleshooting the issue during my sleep or for days on end. There were also times when I would stay up all night just to circumvent a virus on my computer or lose hours of sleep when I hacked a Nintendo Wii for the first time. In 2011, I decided to go college. During my senior year, my mothe r and step-father split up. Ford Pinto Trial The objective of this paper is to investigate what led to the Ford pinto criminal trial and the impact that it had. What led up to the criminal indictment of Ford, the trial itself, the verdict of the trial will be discussed. The Impact that this trial has had on the Automobile industry will also be investigated. In the late 1960's there was strong competition from VW and several Japanese companies in the small car market. Due to this competition Ford hurried the design of their small car, the Pinto, to market. Since the car was rushed into market and the specifications for the car were that it weigh under 2000 pounds and cost less than $2000, safety was not a major concern in the design of the pinto.1 In pre-production testing Ford found that the gas tank was likely to leak and possibly burst into flames when it is struck from behind. Internal documents show that eleven of the tests averaging thirty one miles per hour were performed before the Pinto went into production. In only three of the eleven tests did the fuel tank in the Pinto not rupture. In one test a plastic wiffle ball was placed between the front of the gas tank between the tank and the differential housing so that four bolts would not tear into the tank. In the next successful test a piece of steel was placed between the f uel tank and the bumper. In the third test the fuel tank was lined with a rubber liner. Although Ford found that fuel tank rupture was likely to happen they decided to go ahead with this design because assembly line machinery was all ready tooled and they concluded that it was not cost efficient to add an $5.08 rubber bladder to the car cost to the car to remedy the design flaw, instead they determined that it would be cheaper to settle or fight any civil law suits rather then remedy this problem.3 In their cost analysis, that would have improved fuel tank safety for their whole line of cars and trucks, they concluded that there would be 180 burn deaths, 180 serious burn injuries, and 2100 burned vehicles at a cost of $200,000 per burn death, $67,000 per serious burn injury, and $700 per burned vehicle which came up to a total cost of $49.5 million. The estimated cost to prevent leakage in their cars and trucks was $11 dollars each. So with sales of 11 million cars and 1.5 millio n light trucks the total cost to improve fuel tank safety wou... ...so showed that even if the product passes the minimum safety standards a manufacturer should hold safety concerns with the utmost importance.5 Lastly, it gave other attorneys confidence to file criminal charges against a manufacturer if they intentionally sell a harmful product. In conclusion I believe that Ford acted very irresponsible in the design of the Pinto and they should have been held accountable in both civil and criminal cases. They were foolish and morally wrong to take profits over peoples lives. Every engineer can learn a lot about how important product safety is by looking into this case. One of the most common forms of employee fraud that we have been seeing for quite some time involves access to internet banking. Businesses often have two signatories for company cheques but allow full single user access to their internet banking. The result is an accident waiting to happen. An internet banking fraud of $20 million was reported today in the Sydney Morning Herald involved the payroll manager of listed white goods retailer, Clive Peeters. However in most cases that we have seen, the money is spent or gambled and their is very little or nothing to recover. Other similarities to the cases that we have seen: †¢the amount of the fraud is always larger than expected. The estimates of the Clive Peeters fraud went fro m $2 million to $7 million to $20 million. †¢the fraud was conducted over a longer period than expected. The current estimate is that the fraud was operating for 18 months. It is vitally important where a business is using internet banking that a two signatory approval for any payments or transfers is put in place. The standard internet banking software provided by the banks is inadequate for business use because it lacks the necessary internal controls. Speak to your bank about obtaining the higher security, multiple signatory version of internet banking. Unfortunately, in our experience, it is not easy to obtain and you have to speak to many people in the bank before you get someone you knows anything about it.

College Is A Waste of Time and Money Essay

Maybe it’s my age or my personality, but I really haven’t enjoyed many of the stories that we have had to read. To me, there is an extreme amount of negativity in them, especially in the titles. I think it would have been more interesting and relevant to read a current article on this subject, and not something written in 1975. While the basics are still in play, there have been a lot of changes over the years. The most notable difference would be the demographics that make up today’s student body. As an older, non-traditional student, I don’t consider it a waste of time or money, and I don’t think many others feel that way. There are so many people who would love to go to college, but are unable to for some reason. Although, I’m not familiar with how young people look at college today, I think a significant number likely look forward to the opportunity. I do agree with many of Ms. Birds findings. I don’t believe anyone should be force d to go to college. It should be entirely up to each individual. We still see many parents pushing their kids to continue their education, and often for good reason, but if the child doesn’t want to go, it should be their decision. At the age of 18, many are too young and confused, and don’t know what they want to do with their life. It’s also nice to have a break after 13 years of school. We will always have kids who will rebel, just for the sake of rebelling. I think a main cause of this for many students is too much pressure. They have all these standards to live up to, whether it comes from their parents, their siblings, other family members, or society. Some may take that rebellious attitude because they have trouble learning, and they don’t want anyone to know. They would prefer to look like a rebel than to look like a retard. I also agree with the lack of quality teachers, and being required to take many classes that have nothing at all to do with your major. A couple of years ago, I had an in-class accounting teacher who just read to us from the book. I’m thinking I’m coming here and paying for someone to read to me, I can read all by myself, I am looking for someone to teach me. My main focus is getting a degree, but I also truly enjoy learning. I definitely agree with her on college being too expensive. I think she would be shocked to see today’s prices, and I would be very interested to know what textbooks and tuition cost in her day. The kids back  then had some fear of campus violence. But horrors, like the Kent State shooting, were not the norm. Today, we are always seeing campus shootings. Although these seem to have become a way of life and can happen anywhere, it’s still quite scary for the students and may actually have the opposite effect of parents wanting to send their kids off to college. It also seems that hazing has gotten out of control on our campuses. Unfortunately, there is just such an overwhelming hatefulness in our world. There is another factor that may play into a lack of desire to go on to college. They can look at the many success stories of people who didn’t go to college, some who never even completed high school. These folks used hard work to become millionaires and billionaires. I think some people are more successful because of their charismatic personalities, which has nothing to do with their ability or their intelligence. The traditional white male students must feel that college is a waste of time and money, but they are in the minority.

Running up and down the exterior of this tree, are long lines going in erratic directions, connecting with each other making up the bark of the tree. These lines help give the tree an image of texture and movement, by repeating the imposition of the bark. The lengthy, curvy, horizontal lines used for the body of the serpent, which is wrapped around the tree, help accentuate the twisted shape of the tree. There are tall, vertical lines that are used to form the appendages belonging to the figure of Death or Adam. These lines are used mainly for his visible arms and legs, which have deteriorated to the bone; the extended lines establishing the exterior of these appendages. His right leg, however appears to still be intact, but only the bottom half Is visible. Many short lines also contribute to the structure of the minting. There Is a series of closely grouped short, curved lines that constitute the muscle fiber of Death or Adams decaying flesh which Is seen as ripped, and falling from his body. Manifesting at the bottom of the tree is a collection of small, curved add to the trees wicked appearance. As a whole, the painting is a real attention grabber, and it provokes deeper thought through the use of its extreme color contrast and perplexing images. It is definitely a more disturbed imagining of Adam and Eve which accentuates the underlying dark side of bible stories.
